FAQ
WHY DOES THE DOG CLUB OF WEST LINN REQUIRE AN EVALUATION?
We conduct an individual screening of all dogs which allows us to get a feel for your dog's unique personality and needs. This Evaluation is administered by a member of our staff trained in animal behavior.
The Evaluation is key to providing a safe environment for dogs and staff. Please note that if it is determined that your dog is not comfortable in daycare or asked to withdraw at a later date, it is not a negative reflection on your dog—it simply means that the pack environment is not suited for your dog. At this time we may recommend training to help your dog adjust to a pack environment.
WHEN CAN I SCHEDULE AN EVALUATION?
Evaluations are scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30AM and 9:00AM.
WHAT DOES THE EVALUATION COST?
The Evaluation fee is $25. First day FREE upon successful Evaluation!
WHAT DO I NEED FOR AN EVALUATION?
Please bring your dog in on a leash. Dogs must wear a quick-release collar during daycare play.
WHY DOES MY DOG NEED A QUICK-RELEASE COLLAR FOR DAYCARE?
Quick Release collars are the recommended collars for daycares to ensure your dogs' safety. Although very rare, dogs can get tangled up in play. If this happens, the attendant will quickly remove the collars before the dogs become agitated.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE EVALUATION AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
First, we will ask you a few questions about your dog and test his reaction to human handling. This part of the test includes petting your dog all over. This is to see how comfortable your dog is with this kind of handling.
Next, we will take your dog into the daycare area and introduce him to a few dogs at a time. During this time we will ask you to fill out a Pet Owner Agreement form, an Emergency Contact Information form and a newsletter sign up form. This portion of the Evaluation will take about 20 to 30 minutes of your time.
If this preliminary part of the Evaluation is successful, we will ask you to leave your dog for 2 to 5 hours. This will enable our daycare staff to observe your dog at play with other dogs in the pack environment.
AFTER MY DOG IS APPROVED, WHAT DO I DO NEXT?
Schedule your dog for daycare! Remember, your first day of play is FREE! We recommend regular play dates to reduce the stress of meeting unfamiliar dogs on every visit.
Regular play dates help your dog learn the basics of daycare play, establishes a good level of comfort, and builds confidence. We recommend that dogs come for play and socialization at least once a week.
