Enrollment Application and Requirements (top)
Sorry, we do not accept home vaccinations—please have them verified by your vet Return the completed enrollment application form with records listed above to The Dog Club of West Linn. A staff member will review the paperwork and call to set up a time for your evaluation appointment. We are unable to set up an evaluation appointment prior to receiving all paperwork. The Evaluation Appointment (top) Safety is our Number One Concern at The Dog Club of West Linn! In order to provide a safe environment for day care dogs and staff, all dogs must go through an evaluation screening process. Dogs have different personalities and some personalities and temperaments are better suited than others to the “pack” environment of a day care setting. To determine whether day care is right for your dog, we conduct an individual evaluation screening process which allows us a chance to meet you and your dog and get a feel for your dog’s personality and individual needs. This evaluation is administered by a member of our staff who is trained in animal behavior. Please bring your dog in on a leash with a quick release collar. Allow 30 to 45 minutes for the evaluation and plan to leave your dog in day care for 2 to 5 hours. Cost: $20.00—this includes temperament test and first 2-5 hour day care session at day of evaluation. The Evaluation Procedure—Why we do what we do (top) First, we will ask you a few questions about your dog and test his reaction to human handling. This part of the test includes petting your dog all over, picking up each paw, giving your dog a big restraint hug, checking the teeth and ears—this is to see how comfortable your dog is with this kind of handling. Next, we will take your dog to the day care area for a brief 20 minute trial. Your dog will be introduced to a few dogs at a time to see how he reacts in a group. During this time we will ask you to fill out a Pet Owner Agreement form and an Emergency Contact Information form. If this preliminary part of the Evaluation is successful, we will require you to leave your dog in day care for a half day session (minimum 2 hours, maximum 5 hours). This will enable our day care staff to observe your dog at play with other dogs. You will be given a time to pick up your dog. When you return to pick up your dog, you will be given a “First Day” report card and we will discuss any important details or observations about your dog’s participation in day care. Recommended Minimum Commitment—One Day a Week! (top) The Dog Club of West Linn strives to provide the best environment for your dog to socialize and feel safe. Our playful environment is a result of dogs getting to know each other during repeated visits. Regular play dates reduce the stress of meeting new and unfamiliar dogs every day—just like your comfort level increases as you become more familiar with new friends. Dogs are very habitual—they become comfortable with familiarity and routine. An initial commitment period helps your dog learn basic acceptable behavior of day care play and helps them establish their rank in the pack. To ensure your dog’s successful day care experience, we ask that you make an initial commitment to the same day(s) each week for a period of 8 weeks. Special Day Care Passes for New Members (top) We have created two Initial Day Care Commitment Passes for new clients dedicated to successfully establishing your dog into day care—and you SAVE MONEY!!! PERKY PUP HALF DAY 8 HALF DAY Initial Day Care Pass $128.00 ($16.00/day -- 12% savings) PERKY PUP FULL DAY 8 FULL DAY Initial Day Care Pass $168.00 ($21.00/day -- 16% savings)
Day Care Tips (top) New day care dogs have a better time adjusting to the pack environment if they arrive early in the morning. Your dog will “greet” the incoming dogs. This will build his self-confidence—it is a much easier process for them and less intimidating that walking in on a group of “established” friends. On the same note, we recommend that new dogs are picked up early to reduce the stress of being the “last” dog in daycare. As stated before, Safety is our Number One concern. Providing a familiar routine for your dog where he can establish friends and participate in regular exercise and mental stimulation is key in a happy, healthy and mellow pet. We look forward to building a lasting relationship with you and your pet and to provide your dog with safe, stimulating and playful exercise!
