  • Happy Mother's Day!

The Dog Club of West Linn sends a Happy Mother's Day wish to all doggie and kiddie moms!! We hope you celebrate in style and enjoy our Mom articles!

How To Take the Dog Out

by Colton Hefty, age 9, boy of Ruby May Hefty (Day Care Golden Retriever). Colton attends Mrs. Miller's class at Bolton Primary school. Colton's assignment was to give directions on a task. Mom, Jaylin Hefty, brought the homework assignment in for us to read and we thought it would be an appropriate Mother's Day article! i>

Sometimes you love taking the dog out. And sometimes you hate taking the dog out. But how about if you don't know how to take the dog out. Follow these instructions and it will make it simple.

Come on! lets go get your materials. you will need a sweatshirt or a coat if it's cold. a leash, a dog of course! A poopbag, a towel, and a bell on the door.

Put on a coat or a sweatshirt if it's cold. Then put a the leash on the dog collar. Take her outside to where she goes potty. If she goes, give her praise "good girl". If she went poop, collect with poopbag and then tie. Throw away poop in poop bucket. Take her back inside. If her paws are wet, dry the paw with a towel. Remove her leash. Hang up your coat or sweatshirt. And then your job is done.

Now the next time you take the dog out. you know how to.

Thanks Colton--great job! Now we know!!

    Baking with Olive!
    Olive

Another tribute to Mom's and their kids (furry or otherwise!!) Here is a picture of Olive Boardman (Day Care Labradoodle) and her girl Lily, age 6. The kids are enjoying a day of baking together. And what do you think they are baking? mmmm paw lickin' good Doggie biscuits!!

Mom, Mitzi Boardman, bought a package of Cloud Star Bake-At-Home Treats at The Dog Club. The kit comes in 4 flavors--just add water and oil, mix, roll and cut with enclosed bone shaped cookie cutter! Oh and flour on the nose is optional!!

Bring Your Child To Work Day
    100_2828.jpg

Thursday, April 26 was Bring Your Child To Work Day and The Dog Club of West Linn welcomed Jamie Simons (Groomer) and her son, Cody. Cody is 14 years old and attends Ogden Middle School in Oregon City. Cody helped Mom wash the dogs and observed her grooming techniques. Cody had a chance to watch the dogs in day care, but mostly he watched his mom groom the dogs.

Jamie has been grooming dogs for over two years and truly enjoys transforming wild fur into a well-coiffed pooch! When asked if he wanted to be a groomer like his mom, Cody just shook his head 'No' and gave us a big smile!

Thank you for joining us Cody--it was fun!

    Vend A Dog A Bone

OK, now I've heard it all! As I was skimming through "Entrepreneur" (April 2007) I ran across an article about a young woman in Dallas who started a vending machine business for dog treats and toys!! Hey Buddy pet vending machine was established in 2005 in Bark Park Central, an off-leash dog park in Dallas, Texas.

The machines are stocked with tennis balls, dog shirts, dog glasses, --basically everything a gog might need for a walk in the park."We just want to make it convenient for the customers who are out there with their dogs."

    Traveling With The Dog!

Need a vacation, but don't want to leave the dog at home? Here's a solution. The Dog Club has a great book called, "Have Dog Will Travel Northwest Edition:Hassle-Free Guide to Traveling With Your Dog", by Barbara Whitaker (Ginger & Spike Publications, $19.95)

"Have Dog Will Travel is available in the NW edtion and the California edition. The book offers info about more than 2,000 pet- friendly accommodations and their amenities.

    Remodel Completed!!

    Drum Roll Please. . . . .

And now the moment you've all been waiting for. The remodel at The Dog Club is 99.9% Complete.

The week of April 30 to May 4 saw some dramatic finishing touches. The sprinkler system for the new flower beds was connected, the new sink in the large day care area was installed, ceiling fans were installed in the daycare, and the painting was completed. The french drain and retaining wall on the south side of the building is the 1% that will be done by Saturday, May 5.

We would like to thank you for bearing with us during this extensive remodel and putting up with our dust and noise. Thank you--Thank you!! Be on the lookout for a Customer Appreciation Party this summer!
